Computer Science Advisor
Michael Sekol is a seasoned educator and business leader with a robust career that spans software development, education, and executive leadership. Since 2017, Michael has been a Software Development Instructor at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center. In this role, he has designed and implemented an innovative, industry-aligned curriculum that prepares high school students for success in post-graduation careers through a mix of Project-Based Learning (PBL) and Work-Based Learning (WBL). His focus is on equipping students with both the technical expertise and soft skills needed for the rapidly evolving tech industry.
With a deep understanding of both education and industry demands, Michael brings over two decades of leadership experience, including his tenure as President and COO of Adelphia Financial Inc., where he expanded market territories and achieved substantial growth across multiple states. He also led operations as Senior Operations Manager at VXI, overseeing a staff of 300+ people and ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
His background in business is equally impressive. Michael managed corporate P&L, trained staff, and developed operational strategies that resulted in consistent performance improvements. His leadership in various sectors—ranging from education to finance—enabled him to build strong relationships with key industry stakeholders, helping bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application. This same dedication extends into his work as a consultant, where he provides digital and SaaS-based solutions to clients in web development, e-commerce, and CRM.
In the classroom, Michael’s students benefit from his practical, hands-on approach. He integrates cutting-edge technology, such as AI-driven feedback tools, Agile based project management tools, and Google platforms to monitor student progress. His instructional design incorporates real-time data analytics to tailor learning experiences, ensuring that each student is prepared for post-graduation opportunities, whether in the workforce, college, or the military.
Michael holds a Master’s in Education Technology with a Computer Science Endorsement from Kent State University, Bachelor’s in Project Management from Daniel Webster College, an Associate’s in Web Design from ITT Tech, and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. He has a proven track record of leading teams, driving organizational growth, implementing continuous improvement strategies and improving student outcomes by applying data-driven, practical solutions to education and business challenges.
